FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):
Illegal immigrants that are caught on drug charges, are first "sentenced for violating  immigration laws" and then hit with their jail time(IIS).
The Federation of American Immigration Reform states that " 72,000 criminal aliens are in federal custody  at the end of 2007" only from drug charges(IIS).
With less drugs going across borders, " the number of immigrants who transport drugs in exchange for a cash infusion" would go down from the reduced amount of illegal immigrants(IIS).
Legalizing marijuana will not only increase tax revenue, but "would also create jobs" for people like cutting, growing, and distribution (IIS).
An estimated "2.4 billion dollars in tax revenue" would be created by legalizing marijuana according to Jefrrey A. Miron stated in his article (IIS).

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):

The illegal immigration statistics tells us that legalizing marijuana can help reduce illegal immigration and reduce the crime from these immigrants that come over or may have stayed illegally. It will give us more jobs and will give us more tax revenue for the state.

The author does not have anything to gain from this.Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?

there is not a bias because he is just saying facts no really opinions.References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?

He sites other authors on what they have said about the subject.Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?

I will use this source to show that there are many different ways we can reduce illegal immigration.

FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):
Immigrants who are here illegally aren't here just because they smuggled in. They could have either "entered the United States without inspection or were admitted temporarily and stayed past the date required to leave" (Department of Homeland Security).
The number of illegal immigrants that entered the United States as of January 2010 "was 10.8 million"(Department of Homeland Security).

Out of the 10.8 million immigrants, " 62 percent were from Mexico" which is m ore than half of the illegal immigrants we have in our borders(Department of Homeland Security).
The illegal immigration population "is defined as all foreign-born non-citizens who are not legal residents" in the country they are in, in this case the Untied States(Department of Homeland Security).
To figure out the illegal immigration population in the U.S. you have to subtract "the total foreign-born population" to the " legally resident population" as of January 2010(Department of Homeland Security).

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):

The Department of Homeland Security shows us the statistics of how our population is growing. The rate at which illegal immigrants come to the United States is calculated. It has over half of the illegal immigrants that come from our neighboring country, Mexico.

Credibility of Source:
Author or Site: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the site. What is the purpose of the site? Who funds the site?

The author is people that work in the Office of Immigration Statistics for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. They have calculated the illegal immigration population by subtracting data that they have collected.

Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?

Its been put out by a non- profit organization and is simply there to educate.
Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?

There isn't a bias here because these are simply facts, and not opinions.
References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?
Yes they use references to back up their stats they have.
Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?
I plan to use this source to show how much of our population of illegal immigrants is affecting our population.

FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):
The U.S. sensus estimates that we have "eleven million illegal aliens in the United States"from around the world (IIS).  And of those eleven million, "6.6 million are from Mexico alone" and could possibly be even higher from the people that did not "report in the census"(IIS).
The U.S. tries to do a good thing a help out a neighboring country but "instead of helping a neighboring country", we were "destroying" the core of our own (IIS).
A meat packing plant has been "raided" and all of their employees are rounded up, as a majority of them are "illegal aliens"(IIS). Then instead of sending them back, the plan just rehires them because they don't get in trouble, the company just "gets their hand slapped" for a couple days(IIS).
Many Americans disagree or may disapprove of what the United States government does, but they themselves don't help and "vote" to get the change that they feel is necessary(IIS).

A illegal alien "bragged" about how much money he got back for his kids in income taxes because "his buddies let them claim theirs" because they are without a job and can't file for income tax(IIS).

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):

The Illegal Immigration Statistics has multiple statistics on the illegal immigration rate around the United States and specifically coming from Mexico into the U.S. It tells about how even though they are illegal, people still hire them because they are willing to work. Homeland security can't even ask to see their I.D. because they would consider it as profiling.
Credibility of Source:
Author or Site: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the site. What is the purpose of the site? Who funds the site?

The purpose of this site is to tell all the people of the United States that Illegal Immigration isn't only costing us jobs but money as well.Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?
This is simply just to inform, there isn't even an author given.
Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?
There is a bias in the authors writing because he mainly talks about how they manipulate the system for money and its costing us in the long run.
References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?
The author sites the U.S. census and this would add credibility because its from the government.

Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?

I plan to use this source to help show how illegal immigration is affecting us because they are taking away jobs and taking our tax money because they know how and know they can manipulate the system.
